HOME AND SCHOOL

Behavior Checker helps you learn simple, effective teaching strategies that lower everyone's stress.

Behavior Checker Solutions help you to protect, be a "buffer", against the stress that your child experiences (that stress often results in her behaving in inappropriate ways) so that it doesn’t become toxic to her brain, cardiovascular system and immune system. Research shows that “buffering” builds executive functioning, self-regulation and other necessary skills to help a child learn how to be resilient, problem-solve, tolerate frustration, delay gratification, and navigate the ups and downs of life.

Just to be clear, we are not talking about making sure that your child never experiences stress—he’s going to be frustrated, fearful, disappointed, angry and not always get what he wants, for example. We’re saying that your care, support and protection, consistently given...buffering...can mitigate stress so it does not become toxic, a health danger to your child. In short, Parenting is Healthcare.

WORKPLACE

Healthy Parenting comes to the workplace.

Now the workplace, where parents spend 1/3 of their lives, can contribute to building healthier parents, families and communities using the same tool used by pediatricians, social workers and educators. With Behavior Checker®, the Raised with Love and Limits Foundation has made it easy for companies to bring healthy parenting to their employees as a part of their wellness programs.

Behavior Checker is the one-stop-shop for solutions to the most common childhood behaviors. Your employees will have advice at their fingertips, 24/7/365, to help lower the stress of parenting. What’s more, the parenting skills learned through our approach, are the same as those needed for executive functioning and resilience at work (and life)—problem-solving, coping with frustration and stress, dealing with difficult people.

The result? Workers will be less stressed about parenting issues and more focused on work. A resilient parent is a more productive, resilient human being in the workplace and in the community—therefore, healthy parenting in the workplace supports the mental health and wellbeing of us all.

3 ways Behavior Checker makes parenting easier and lowers everyone's stress:

  • Look at everyday parenting through a new lens—upstream, as first-line, universal, common-sense practical prevention of health, learning and behavior problems—by using Behavior Checker for answers and support to lessen your stress. Just click on “Find the Behavior” or “By Category” and follow the prescription for each—and ask your child’s healthcare provider if you have questions or need more support. For more detailed information about each behavior problem, the reasons your child acts the way he does and how to prevent each behavior problem from starting in the first place, see Discipline with Love and Limits.

  • Let go of the fear of embarrassment and judgment that prevent you from asking for help when you are overwhelmed, frustrated, and unable to cope with your child’s behavior. We don’t wince when the doctor or nurse tells us how to deal with our child’s fever, rash or vomiting, but we don’t want to admit to our child’s overuse of screen time, being a picky eater, and wanting his own way, lest we label ourselves “bad parents” for not being able to solve this problem on our own. Your child's healthcare provider understands that helping you take care of your child's health means teaching you how to teach your child effective discipline to raise a healthy child. That's why providers are recommending you use Behavior Checker to teach your child good behavior to replace whining or backtalk, for example, as you would look for ways to treat your child’s runny nose, rash or stomachache.

  • The American Academy of Pediatrics wants you to know the harmful outcomes from using unhealthy parenting strategies, such as spanking, hitting, slapping, threatening, insulting, humiliating or shaming. "Optimal child development requires," according the to the new AAP Policy Statement, "the active engagement of adults who, among other functions, teach children acceptable behavior." The questions are: What do to if you don't spank, hit, slap, threaten, insult, humiliate or shame?  How do you teach children acceptable behavior?

Their new Policy Statement provides the answers: "The AAP recommends that adults caring for children use healthy forms of discipline, such as positive reinforcement of appropriate behaviors, setting limits, redirecting, and setting future expectations."

All of these healthy forms of teaching discipline lower everyone's stress. Find them in the "What to Do's" of every Behavior Checker Solution.
